Daily Racing Tips: 24/03/2020
Neil Morrice brings us all of his best bets and tips for today’s meetings at Clonmel and Turffontein on 24/03/2020.
Race 1: FARMIX
Trainer: Miss E Doyle – Jockey: D Meyler
A big field for this maiden hurdle but not many can win. The safest shout is FARMIX who after a couple of near misses deserves to get his head in front. The cash certainly came for him at this course earlier in the month when he played second fiddle to Groody Rover, but I think my selection can go one better.
Race 5: BONBON AU MIEL
Trainer: Willie Mullins – Jockey: David Mullins
Had his career not been hampered by injury, BONBON AU MIEL could have gone a long way but there’s still time for him to showcase his talents. He was faced with a very tough task on his belated reappearance in an ultra-competitive contest where after an exaggerated jump early on he could never get into it and was pulled up. However, the run should have done him the power of good, and he can prove more effective in this smaller field.
Race 6: ROBIN DEUZ POIS
Trainer: Gordon Elliott – Jockey: S F O’Keeffe
Having delivered at odds-on at Newcastle and in decisive fashion, ROBIN DEUZ POIS can continue his progression on just a third start for his new trainer. To score as he did with any amount in hand augers well for another payday and the yard could hardly be in better form.
Race 1: PUCKER UP
Jockey: T Matsoele – Trainer: B Webber
PUCKER UP seldom finishes too far off the action and was making steady progress in her last start over this distance. She jumps from a mid-field draw and will be partnered by the able Tshepiso Matsoele.
Race 2: CHASING GREEN
Jockey: W Marwing – Trainer: Weicho Marwing
CHASING GREEN returns from a lengthy 46 week break, but the fact that her trainer has brought her back to racing would suggest that he feels that she still has something more to offer. The engaging of the returning Weichong Marwing catches the eye.
Race 4: CURVATION
Jockey: R Danielson- Trainer: W H Marwing
CURVATION did best that day when she was running on at the business stage of that race, suggesting that this extra ground will be to her liking. She found betting support that day so she must have been showing some good work at home.
Race 5: ISPHAN
Jockey: R Magner – Trainer: C Dicken
ISPHAN is the only ride on the day for Cole Dicken who will claim his 2.5kgs apprentice allowance. He stayed on well in his last start over this trip and did win his penultimate outing over the c&d. From his handy draw, he looks the value in the race.
Race 7: STAGE DANCE
Jockey: C Murray – Trainer: M De Kock
STAGE DANCE ran on strongly in her last outing over this distance when just failing by a head to reel in the winner. She has the widest draw to deal with, but she is likely to be dropped out of it early and should be picking off the frontrunners in the closing stages of the race.
